With his contract up at the end of the season, Spanish giants Barcelona are torn on whether or not to make a move for the German international, Sport English report.
There has been plenty of interest from all over Europe for Arsenal’s playmaker, with the Gunners desperate to tie him down to a new deal to keep him at the Emirates.
With Manchester United and Barcelona, the two most rumoured clubs in attempting to sign Ozil, many chiefs at Barcelona believe that the German may be the next Arda Turan, who hasn’t lived up to expectations during his time at the Nou Camp.
The player’s wage is another obstacle to overcome according to sources, with Ozil reportedly wanting €19 million per season, the same amount as Luis Suarez.
Barcelona are desperate for another high-profile signing in January after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee. The Catalan giants brought in Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund, and are now eyeing up either Ozil or Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
