Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is confident that his teammates, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, will remain at the Emirates, at least until the end of the season, in an interview with the Independent.
With both Sanchez and Ozil starring in the North London derby win on the weekend, many believe that they may look for an exit in January with their contracts up at the end of the season, however, Monreal expects both players to stay in London until the summer.
Sanchez is hopeful of pushing through a move to Manchester City, after failing to join Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer, while Ozil has been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Manchester United and Spanish giants Barcelona.
Talking ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League fixture on Thursday against FC Cologne, the Spanish defender was asked about his team mates futures.
I can’t say much about it. It does not depend on me. The situation is clear. They are two vital players for Arsenal. They are two players who end their contracts at the end of the season. If the club want them to stay beyond December [the January transfer window] they will follow.
