Arsenal dealt blow in hunt for new sporting director

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of a new sporting director, with Michael Zorc poised to remain at Borussia Dortmund, the Evening Standard reports.

The Gunners have been making progress in their aim to freshen up the recruitment team at the club and have already enjoyed successful negotiations with Dortmund.

It was confirmed on Monday that Arsenal have appointed Sven Mislintat as the club’s new chief scout. However, plans appeared to have been put in place for Zorc to arrive at the Emirates as the club’s new sporting director.

Dortmund, though, are keen to keep hold of their chief, who has delivered plenty of success from his role in recent times.

Like Mislintat, Zorc has overseen lots of progression at Dortmund and has contributed to the signings of several impressive young players.

However, the pair won’t be working together again any time soon, it seems, with Zorc poised to remain in Germany.
