Real Madrid confident of landing Arsenal target

Real Madrid are reportedly confident that they will be able to sign Athletic Club goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is also thought to be wanted by Arsenal.

The Guardian‘s rumour round-up places Arrizabalaga, 23, on Arsenal wishlist, but Spanish publication AS claim that back-to-back Champions League winners Real Madrid are confident that they will land the promising young ‘keeper.

Arrizabalaga, who stands at six foot, two and a half inches tall, has been with Athletic Club since he was just 10 years old, and moved up through their youth ranks before starting his senior career with their feeder club, Basconia, gaining experience in the Spanish third division before then moving up the ladder and playing for the Athletic B team in the Second Division, and then finally making it at senior level.

He made his Athleltic Club debut in September 2016, keeping a clean sheet as his side beat Deportivo de La Coruna 1-0.

Since then, he has made a further 32 appearances for the club and looks to be one of the brightest young goalkeepers in the world right now, hence Arsenal’s, and Real Madrid’s, interest.

AS’ report states that the Spanish club have made it clear amongst themselves that they will try to sign the Basque goalkeeper in January, but no deal has been agreed yet — Arrizabalaga’s contract with Athletic Club expires in June 2018.
