Santi Cazorla injury one of the worst Wenger has seen

According to Sky Sports, Santi Cazorla’s current ankle injury is one of the worst that Arsene Wenger has seen, but he doesn’t rule out a January return for the Spaniard.

Cazorla suffered an Achilles injury more than a year ago in Arsenal’s 6-0 win against Ludogorets and has had plenty of setbacks in his recovery since.

The Spanish attacking midfielder was told that he may not be able to walk again, after almost losing his foot due to a serious infection.

Cazorla’s ankle problems started in 2013, and since then, injuries have meant that he’s lost eight centimetres of his Achilles tendon, despite all the setbacks, Wenger believes Cazorla will be back in January.

The Frenchman said this on Cazorla’s injury

It is the worst injury (I have seen), it started with a pain in the achilles and it has gone from worse to worse and I must say I know how much Santi loves to play football and loves to be out there every day and I feel very sorry for what happened to him, because it is unbelievable.

I saw him one month ago, he was here, and I told him to prepare as well as he can. He has competent medical people around him and he tries to practise, but I have not spoken to him recently but I hope he comes back. I left him out of the squad, hoping he would be available in January.
