Bierhoff: Arsenal target Goretzka is moving to England
Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff has dropped a huge hint regarding Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka’s future, the Mirror reports.
The Schalke star’s contract expires at the end of the season, and a host of top clubs across Europe have been linked with a move for him – including Arsenal.
The likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona have both been touted with admiration in Goretzka’s qualities, but if Bierhoff is to be believed, the midfielder’s next destination will be in the Premier League.
We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Goretzka for some time now, and it looks as though they could stand a strong chance now of landing him when the summer transfer window comes around.
In January, with it looking unlikely that he’ll pen a new deal at Bundesliga outfit Schalke, the player will be free to discuss a move with foreign clubs, and potentially sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Arsenal will face competition, though, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool having been linked with Goretzka.
