# Arsenal Player Ratings: Manchester City (A)

Arsenal failed to build on their positive start away at Manchester City on Sunday, and succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsene Wenger was in experimental mood with his side. He handed Francis Coquelin his first start of the Premier League season, in the unfamiliar role of centre-back. His decision to bench Alexandre Lacazette was also the subject of much confusion from the Gunners faithful.

City took the lead after Kevin De Bruyne played a delicate one-two with Fernandinho, before the Belgian slotted home brilliantly.

The hosts then piled on the misery for the Gunners, as they were awarded a penalty. Nacho Monreal brought down Raheem Sterling in the area, and Sergio Aguero made no mistake from the spot.

Alexandre Lacazette notched a goal off the bench for Arsenal in the second-half, but a goal from City substitute Gabriel Jesus secured Pep Guardiola’s men a 3-1 win.

Here are our Arsenal player ratings from the loss.
