Wenger to face review at the end of the season

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is to have his performance in the 2017/18 season reviewed by the club’s hierarchy next summer, the Independent reports.

The experienced Frenchman put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at the Emirates at the end of last season, much to the frustration of a large portion of Arsenal’s fan base.

However, he is still fighting for the club, and is hoping to lead them to a successful season this time around.

The Gunners currently sit in 5th place, but are already nine points away from Manchester City at the top of the table. They are through to the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup, and are also top of their Europa League group at the halfway stage.

Wenger discussed his future, and insisted that his hunger and desire to succeed is greater than ever.

I am 21 years at the club and I want to feel that I do well, and see what the board thinks of my performance. After that we decide where we go from there. But of course my desire has always been to respect my contracts.

I must tell you, my hunger, my commitment is bigger than ever. But I will accept that of course when you have been at the club a long time, everybody questions that. I question myself a lot, don’t worry, to be better every single day.

Arsenal take on Swansea at home next in the Premier League.
