Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus — but could face competition for the German in the shape of Manchester United.
According to Sky Germany (via the Daily Mail), Arsenal and United are both monitoring Reus’ recovery from a cruciate ligament injury which will keep him out until the new year, after the German winger made no guarantees that he will stay at Dortmund beyond his current contract.
The deal in question expires in the summer of 2019, meaning that if no extension is signed, Reus could be available at a lower price next summer, heading into the final year of his contract.

And discussing his future at the club, Reus said:
On 31 May 2019 I will be 30 years old. That would be my last big contract and my last chance to try something different again.
I think I have to be so honest and fair – and I do not know where I’m going now.

At the moment I feel very comfortable in Dortmund. I do not worry about the time from 2019 on. But the timing will come naturally, and then I’ll make a decision for myself quite alone.
Reus is quite simply one of the most unlucky footballers we will ever see when it comes to injuries; he guided Dortmund to a title in a game where he had to be substituted, he missed both the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 European Championships and is now on his third major injury of his career.
Arsenal are looking at the German as a direct replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who could leave the club in January or next summer — and the Emirates could offer Reus a fresh start, away form his injury woes at Dortmund.
