Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is open to the possibility of Alexis Sanchez leaving the club in January.
Despite saying that it is possible that Sanchez could depart in the next transfer window, Wenger also said that he hopes the forward will sign a new contract.
Sanchez is in the last year of his deal with the club and is free to speak with foreign clubs in January – which could lead to a pre-contract agreement.
This would see Sanchez agree to join a club in January but join them officially – on a free – in the summer.
The Chilean international could also leave on a permanent in January, with The Telegraph claiming that Manchester City are interested.
They failed with a £60m move in the summer and could now look for a cut-price deal in January if Arsenal fail to pin him down to a new deal.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Wenger said this:
Once you are in our situation, you envisage every solution.
It is possible.
I always said just because we didn’t find agreement, it doesn’t mean they will leave. Both players are happy here – I hope the situation can turn around.
