Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for MLS sensation Miguel Almiron, who is a long-term target for Serie A giants Inter Milan.
This comes according to the Daily Mail, who report that the Gunners are hoping to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window and are monitoring 23-year-old Almiron, who plays for MLS side Atlanta United.
Almiron joined Atlanta from then-Argentine champions Lanus, for whom he scored the goal to win the 2016 Argentine Primera Division.
He is a Paraguayan international, with 12 international caps since making his senior debut for Los Guaranies in 2015 — he came through the youth ranks at international level, having played 16 games for Paraguay U20.
Almiron is one of the most exciting players in the MLS, with the attacking midfielder having been described as the “heartbeat” of the Atlanta United side by team mate Jeff Larentowicz.
Atlanta only formed three years ago, and 2017 marked their first year of MLS participation. Almiron is therefore their 3rd-top goalscorer of all-time, with nine goals, all of which have come in the MLS.
He stands at five feet and nine and a half inches tall, and is noted by WhoScored to be a strong crosser, passer and dribbler, with good shooting and being a threat on counter-attacks. Understandably for someone of his build, he is said to be a weak aerial threat.
