Mustafi injured in Germany clash

Arsenal appear to have been dealt yet another injury blow, with Shkodran Mustafi hobbling off in Germany’s win over Azerbaijan.

The Mirror report that the centre-back has suffered an injured thigh while representing his country, who clinched a comprehensive 5-1 victory over their Azerbaijani counterparts on Sunday evening.

Mustafi has been featuring prominently for Arsenal in the opening stages of the season, with Arsene Wenger having to deal with a considerable amount of defensive injuries.

Laurent Koscielny remains doubtful as he nurses an Achilles injury, while Calum Chambers appears to still be some way from reaching full match fitness.

Mustafi pulled up when chasing an Azerbaijani attack, clearly gripping the top of his leg while off the ball, and falling to the floor. He was forced off, raising fears that the blow could be a serious one for the defender.

Arsenal will hope that the thigh issue Mustafi has sustained isn’t as bad as initially feared.
