# Talks over a new deal for Ozil stall

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is still in the dark over his future at the club, as his current deal looks set to expire next summer, with Barcelona and Manchester United showing an interest in the German, according to reports from [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/arsenal-yet-to-offer-ozil-extension-as-alexis-makes-position/1ncp2qswsvfsk1dt4zltqlb8sl).

However, there is still a big chance that the German international will remain at the Emirates, despite fresh contract discussions stalling, after potential talks back in February were put on hold.

Sources close to the player have stated that he is happy living in London and have said he’s settled and has many close friends in the city.

Ozil, who is thought to have recently bought a new property in London, will be allowed to talk to other European clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January if he wishes, something Barcelona may act on if talks between Ozil and the Gunners are still stationery during the January window.
