Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Leon Goretzka, with Barcelona ending their interest in the midfielder.
Goretzka is currently plying his trade in his homeland of Germany with Bundesliga outfit Schalke, and is attracting interest from a plethora of clubs across the continent.
The promising midfielder has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona in recent times, but it appears as though no move will go through for the German.

As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, a scout from Barcelona, Ariedo Braida, insisted that it was too soon for Goretzka to be considered as an option for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
He is certainly a great player, but for Barcelona it is too soon. I travel around the world in search of great talent, but our demands are extremely high.
The 22-year-old has been developing well since bursting onto the scene with Schalke, and the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich have been cited with interest.
However, despite Barcelona having kept an eye on him, it looks as though Arsenal will not need to fend off their interest for Goretzka should they pursue him.
