Guardiola discusses Sterling to Arsenal rumours

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been discussing Arsenal target Raheem Sterling’s future.

The England international has been subject to fresh reports linking him with a move to the Emirates this January. However, Guardiola has once again reaffirmed his stance that Sterling is not for sale.

As quoted by the Evening Standard, the City boss was adamant that Sterling will remain his player for a the foreseeable future.

Raz [Raheem] is staying here. The club trust him, that is why we have invested a lot of money in him, so the players we have are going to stay.

Arsenal planned to take Sterling as part of a deal which would see Alexis Sanchez go the other way, given his desire to reunite with Guardiola following a successful spell at Barcelona.

If they want to leave they are going to leave, but he wants to stay. If players want to leave they have to ask the chairman, but there is no chance of that. He is going nowhere.

Sanchez’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is likely to opt to join City. However, a January move is not out of the realms of possibility, with Guardiola evidently an admirer.

However, even if Sanchez does secure a move to the Etihad Stadium, it looks as though Sterling will remain a City player.
