Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that English midfielder Jack Wilshere is close to returning to his best following a lengthy lay-off with injury, according to a report on Goal.
The midfielder has had an injury ridden career, but Wenger is still hopeful that Wilshere can fulfil his potential.
He is focused, he is working hard and he is absolutely determined to get his place back in the team. There is a big fight there, and that’s what we want.

It’s a dream for all of us to see him fulfil his potential. I gave Jack his start at 17 years of age. That means I am convinced — you have to be convinced, to play a boy at 17 years of age, that he is a special player.
The midfielder’s contract at the Emirates expires in the summer, along with the likes of Mesut Ozil and is expected to feature for the Gunners in the Carabao Cup clash with Doncaster Rovers tonight.
Wilshere was expected to leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window but ultimately, he remained in North London and has now got his head down and is working hard to prove his doubters wrong.
If you ask me, ‘Is he back to his full, 100% potential? I would say no, but he’s not far away.
