Arsene Wenger stands firm in his belief that the Gunners can still go on to win the Premier League this season.
In a report by the Guardian, Wenger believes that despite all the negativity that has been surrounding the club, Arsenal remain contenders going forward.
Am I convinced we will be title challengers? Yes,why not? We have only played three games – and two away games. OK, we lost at Liverpool but we can redress the situation very well and very quickly. Some teams who are the new favourites are not in a better position than us.
I think we are strong enough, yes. Stronger than last season? I think it depends on what period of the season. We had contrasting periods of the season last year.
The club lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on transfer deadline day to Liverpool but did manage to keep both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.
Both players were continuously linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium as they enter the final months of their contracts.
Manchester City’s pursuit of Sanchez went right to the wire after they had a £60 million bid for the Chilean international rejected.
The Gunners have only won one of their opening three games in the Premier League this season.
