According to reports in France, Arsenal were interested in a move for Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi in the summer transfer window.
The French international secured a surprise move to the Italian champions following a positive season with PSG. A host of top clubs were keen on landing Matuidi, but Juve managed to beat a several outfits to his signature for a fee reported to be under £20 million.

However, according to Le 10 Sport out in the midfielder’s homeland, the Gunners were poised to make a move for Matuidi, only to be put off by the Frenchman’s wage demands.
Arsene Wenger has often been reported to be an admirer of Matuidi and his qualities, but it looks as though he was not willing to part with some seemingly sizable wages in order to attract the combative midfielder to the Emirates.
The Gunners made two signings in the summer, landing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon and Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer.
