On deadline day, Sanchez, who was on international duty with Chile who played their game half an hour after the English window slammed shut, was very close to completing a move to Manchester City after constant speculation over his future at Arsenal.
Arsenal already had a replacement in mind, as they submitted a £92m for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, which they then pulled out of, probably because they knew Sanchez was staying at The Emirates.
Come the 11pm deadline, Sanchez was still an Arsenal player, with Lemar still being a Monaco player, but, Manchester City are now prepared to file an official complaint against Arsenal as they believe that the Chilean already signed a contract with the club before then staying at The Gunners.
