After suffering a shocking 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil took to social media to give a heartfelt apology to the fans about the performance.
In an Instagram post, Mesut Ozil expressed he was that he was ‘very disappointed’ with the outcome of the result and the performance that Arsenal had put in, claiming that the Reds deserved to win ‘without a doubt.’ Ozil also explained his anger towards frustrating defeats, but felt the need to apologize to the fans that had traveled to Liverpool to witness the embarrassing defeat.

The German midfielder will participate in the World Cup Qualifiers this weekend during the international break, along with other fellow Arsenal teammates, but saw it fit to give fans an explanation before the long break.
Arsenal received heavy criticism after the game with most critiques taking aim at Ozil for being non-existent during big games.
Although Ozil isn’t all to blame, pundits and former players have ripped apart a lot of the Arsenal players with Jamie Carragher describing them as ‘cowards’ and Thierry Henry stating the performance as ‘Unwatchable.’
Blame has also been shifted towards manager Arsene Wenger again over his team selection, sparking the calls for ‘Wenger Out.’ Arsenals record signing Alexandre Lacazette was benched for the clash, and Arsenals left back signing Sead Kolasinac, was left on the bench and replaced by right back Hector Bellerin.
Arsene Wenger described the defeat as ‘disastrous’ hoping to get a response out of his team in the following match. Former Arsenal Legend Martin Keown on the other hand, has stated the club is in a ‘crisis’ after the defeat.
Arsenal will host Bournemouth at the Emirates stadium after the international break.
