# Confirmed: Gabriel Paulista joins Valencia

[Valencia](https://www.arsenal.com/news/gabriel-joins-valencia)have officially completed the signing of Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista today.

The Brazilian signs a long-term deal with the La Liga outfit and joins in a deal which has been claimed to be worth around £10m.

Since his move from Villarreal to the Gunners, Gabriel had shown glimpses of quality in Arsenal’s back-line, and helped them to victory on a few occasions in domestic competitions.

However, he failed to really cement himself in Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans during his tenure at the Emirates, finding himself on the bench behind the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Rob Holding and others.

Gabriel made over 50 appearances for Arsenal during his spell there, and will hope to recapture top form upon his return to Spanish football.

The central defender joined from Villarreal in 2015 but failed to reach the heights expected of him. He now looks set to get a chance to resurrect in Spain this season.
