# Besiktas keen to land Arsenal outcast

Besiktas are reportedly the latest club to join the race for Arsenal outcast Mathieu Debuchy.

According to reports in Turkey, as cited by [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/transfer-news-besiktas-join-marseille-chase-arsenal-outcast-mathieu-debuchy-170818250924), the experienced Frenchman is wanted by the Super Lig giants, who are keen to offer him an escape route out of North London.

Debuchy has been told by Arsene Wenger that he is free to leave this summer. The Arsenal boss is attempting to trim his squad and has deemed the former Newcastle defender to be surplus to his requirements for the season ahead.

Marseille had been reportedly leading the race for his signature, but a lucrative offer from Besiktas could change Debuchy’s mind over his next preferred destination.

It’s claimed in the report that Besiktas are ready to offer Debuchy a contract worth €2.3m per year, which may be a tempting proposition for a player whose career at the Emirates looks to be coming to an end.
