Arsenal defender targeted by Valencia

According to the Mirror, Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista is being targeted by La Liga outfit Valencia.

The Brazilian defender is out of favour under Arsene Wenger and could be keen to seek a move this summer, in the hope of securing regular first-team football elsewhere.

Gabriel is currently sidelined, but it’s unlikely that he will be one of the names in contention to start for Wenger when he does return to fitness.

Valencia, who are managed by Marcelino, appear to be keen on recruiting a new central defender this summer, and believe that former Villarreal man Gabriel is a plausible option.

The centre-back joined the Gunners two years ago for a fee thought to be in the region of £12 million and although he has contributed with a few impressive displays, he’s yet to fulfill the potential he showed during his days in Spain.

Valencia want to replace Eliaquim Mangala, who returned to Manchester City from his loan this summer, and Gabriel is a wanted man.
