# Ramsey and Ozil doubtful ahead of Leicester clash

Arsene Wenger has been dealt a double blow ahead of his side’s opening Premier League fixture against Leicester City.

The Gunners boss confirmed after Arsenal’s Community Shield triumph that both Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are doubts for Friday’s game, which will kick off the 2017/18 campaign.

The pair were left out of Arsenal’s squad today, along with Alexis Sanchez, but in their senses it was down to injuries, which will now keep them out of the game against the Foxes.

Although losing two key first-team players left Arsenal at a disadvantage today, they were able to beat Chelsea on penalties, having only managed to draw 1-1 with them in normal time.

While there is a slim chance that Ramsey and Ozil will be fit for Friday’s match, it looks as though Wenger is reluctant to risk such important aspects of his plans, and therefore they will sit out.

The Frenchman, as quoted by the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/mesut-ozil-and-aaron-ramsey-doubts-for-arsenals-opener-against-leicester-arsene-wenger-confirms-a3605136.html), provided an update on the pair’s fitness:

> Mesut got a kick on his ankle, he couldn’t play, couldn’t practice yesterday. He has a little chance to play on Friday night.

> Ramsey has a chance to play but I think he’ll be short as well.
