The club have confirmed that the young shot-stopper will be plying his trade in La Liga next season.

Martinez will now have the chance to establish himself as the number one in a top European league, which he was unlikely to do at Arsenal.

The Spaniard was kept out of the side by Petr Cech and David Ospina last season, with Cech the undisputed number one.

Martinez made just five appearances for the first-team in all competitions, with two of those coming in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been at the club since 2010 but has only made 13 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions during that time.

This is his fifth loan, having previously joined Oxford, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and Rotherham on short-term deals.
