# Watford looking to kick on with Gibbs pursuit

Watford are reportedly keen to accelerate their talks to sign Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal this summer.

According to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4724176/Transfer-News-LIVE-Follow-latest-news-gossip.html) today, the Hornets are looking to push on with their talks as they look to land Gibbs in the near future, but Southampton are also keeping tabs on the left-back.

The Saints could be at risk of losing Ryan Bertrand this summer, with Manchester City interested, and this has prompted them to ‘monitor’ Gibbs’ situation, according to the report.

Having seen his first-team opportunities limited last term, Gibbs is set for a move away from Arsenal in the near future. Nacho Monreal was preferred to him on the left last season, and the arrival of Sead Kolasinac has pushed him down to being the third choice left-back at the Emirates.

Watford do have concerns regarding their proposed pursuit of Gibbs, however. They are wary of Arsenal’s asking price being too high for them, and will be ready to negotiate a less costly deal for the 27-year-old.
