According to Portuguese publication Record, as cited by the Daily Star, Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvahlo wants to move to Arsenal and The Gunners are in talks to sign the Portuguese international.
Arsenal have been linked with Carvalho plenty of times in the past and their £20.6m offer for the Lisbon player was rejected in the 2014/15 summer transfer window.
However, Arsenal now want to reignite their persuit for Carvalho, who has a £40m release clause in his contract which lasts until 2020, so they’ll have to pay big to get him, but, the Lisbon president is set to cut the deal to £27m, which is a decent fee considering the state of the transfer market.
The Gunners currently have Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny in that defensive midfield position and Carvalho would be an upgrade on at least two of them.

Carvlho has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with Newcastle and West Brom interested with the midfielder but if Arsenal are interested, then it’d be hard for the him to say no.
