For the first time since their FA Cup Final showdown, Arsenal and Chelsea will meet again in Beijing, China for a pre-season friendly. Arsenal took the FA Cup home, beating the Blues 2-1, but Chelsea ran away with the Premier League title.
Chelsea won the league a season after missing out on European competition altogether, and with Arsenal not qualifying for the Champions League this past season, there are some expectations for the Gunners to “do a Chelsea” and win the league as a result of not having another major competition to focus on.
Arsenal beat Chelsea in two out of three matches last season but managed to finish four spots behind them in the league. Although each club will be without some key players, beating Chelsea before the clubs face off again in the Community Shield in August will be a bit of a boost before the season begins.
With both clubs bringing in new faces and holding onto their key players from last season, the two squads are looking strong ahead of the start of the Premier League. Here is a combined XI of the two clubs.
