# Tottenham ready to rival Arsenal for winger

Arsenal are reportedly joined by Tottenham Hotspur in their interest in Riyad Mahrez this summer.

According to the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-are-monitoring-riyad-mahrez-s-situation-but-leicester-city-will-have-to-lower-50m-a3592216.html), Spurs are monitoring Mahrez’s situation at Leicester City and they could be ready to pounce, with the Algerian keen to leave the King Power Stadium.

The 2015/16 Player of the Season did not enjoy his best campaign last term and this has prompted him to seek pastures new, with the likes of Arsenal keen to land him.

Although Roma appear to have expressed the keenest interest in signing Mahrez this summer, Arsenal have reportedly had him lined up for some time now as a backup for Thomas Lemar. However, a move for the Monaco man looks unlikely, and this could lead to Arsene Wenger turning his attention towards the Leicester winger.

Despite Spurs’ interest in Mahrez, a move will not be reached unless Leicester lower their huge valuation of the player. They are reportedly demanding a sum of £50m for the tricky wide man.
