Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he has been having positive conversations with Alexis Sanchez via text this summer.
Sanchez has one year left on his current Arsenal deal and is reportedly demanding £400k-per-week to sign a new contract with the club.
Arsenal are unwilling to match his demands but Wenger still seems positive about keeping Sanchez at the club.
Speaking to the Mirror, Wenger said this:
Of course. There is not a lot to resolve at the moment with the player. I have spoken through text and it was very positive. My thoughts are always positive.
A host of Europe’s elite have been linked with Sanchez, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
However, Arsenal are also unwilling to sell Sanchez to a direct Premier League rival.
The Gunners have signalled their intent for the coming seasons by smashing their transfer record to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
The French striker has joined the club in a £52m and scored on his debut against Sydney on Thursday.
Sanchez is set to return to training with Arsenal at the end of the month following the Confederations Cup.
