# Arsenal forward set to miss out on return to La Liga side

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is looking set for a summer exit, but a move back to Deportivo La Coruna is unlikely.

The Spanish striker has been excluded from Arsenal’s squad for their pre-season tour in Australia and China, giving yet another indication that he could be set to depart the club in the near future.

Perez signed for the Gunners only last summer, but Arsene Wenger doesn’t appear to be the biggest fan of his and has only utilised him sporadically since his big move.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Deportivo in recent times, but the La Liga club’s president Toni Fernandez has cast doubts over what would be a highly anticipated return for the striker.

Interestingly, Fernandez claimed that Perez is not up for sale, suggesting that he may yet have a part to play next season.

Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck are all likely to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Fernandez, as quoted by [FourFourTwo](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/deportivo-expect-miss-out-arsenal-forward-lucas-perez), had this to say about his club’s pursuit of Perez:

> Lucas is at a great club who made a big financial effort for him, there’s a high level there and also the desire of the club is not to look for an exit.

> We’ve spoken to Arsenal, we were interested and we informed them of that, although it’s true that that was days ago and other things have happened since then, like the fact that he will not be with the team for a few games. The possibilities (of Deportivo re-signing Perez) are remote.
