Arsenal have given up the chase on signing Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, according to the Mirror.
European football’s hottest prospect has been linked with a sensational €100 million plus move to the Emirates Stadium, however, it appears interest has cooled with the imminent signing of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and focus turning to Mbappe’s Monaco teammate, Thomas Lemar.
The 18-year-old burst onto the scene last season by scoring 26 goals in all competitions, helping Monaco to their first Ligue 1 title since 2003/04 and scoring six goals in the Champions League on the road to the semi-finals.
Mbappe has also attracted interest from Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain, with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu the likeliest option.
With Arsenal’s interest in Mbappe cooling, attention has been solely put on the signing of Lemar, who has a price tag of £80 million according to recent reports. Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez is a secondary option should Arsene Wenger be unable to bring Lemar to North London.
