According to The Daily Star, Newcastle are planning a £8m bid for left-back Kieran Gibbs.
With Arsenal having already completed the signing of Sead Kolasinac, Gibbs’ limited game time seems have got even rarer now.
He only managed 11 appearances last season and Arsenal should defiantly cash in on the £8m-rated Englishman. At the age of 27, he still has a lot to offer and Newcastle would be a great team to take on the left-back and give him regular first-team football.
A potential stumbling block could be his wages. Currently, he earns a reported £70,000 a week and so Newcastle would have to find a way around that big wage package.
Newcastle will need significant improvements to their side if they wish to stay in the Premier League this season.
As for Arsenal, they need all the money they can free up to be able to afford a number of targets they’re linked with. Kieran Gibbs has now been with the Gunners for 10 years and its fair to say that it should be the right time for both player and club to part ways.
Gibbs would be a strong option for any side and to allow Arsenal to become better, they need to get rid of players like Gibbs and target the very best this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be eager to sell Gibbs this summer to help boost their own transfer kitty and Newcastle are heading up a list of suitors.
