# Arsenal open discussions with midfielder over new deal

Arsenal have reportedly open up contract talks with midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/06/20/arsenal-open-aaron-ramsey-contract-extension-talks-avoid-uncertainty/) have stated that the Wales international has been offered an improved deal to stay at the Emirates for the next chunk of his career.

Ramsey didn’t enjoy the greatest of seasons for the Gunners and failed to really convinced throughout the course of the campaign, but is undoubtedly an important player in Arsene Wenger’s plans and the club are now doing everything they can to show him exactly that.

Despite signing a contract worth in excess of £100,000 per week at Arsenal in 2014, his current deal expires in two summers’ time and this has prompted the Gunners to act quickly in an attempt to tie down the player.

Arsenal are struggling to secure their key men’s long-term future at the club at the moment, with Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both reported to be considering their futures away from the club.
