There was relative surprise when it was announced that Arsene Wenger had signed a two year deal to continue as Arsenal manager. Many fans were left disappointed with their club being linked with the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Diego Simeone while others felt that the FA Cup victory had shown there was still hope for the Gunners.
Without Champions League football, there was a fear among fans that the club would be unable to attract the top players they need to challenge for the Premier League title.
These fears were somewhat eased when shortly after Wenger signed his new deal it was reported in a number of papers that Arsenal had launched a monster bid for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe. Of course he hasn’t signed (yet) but if this story is true, it certainly shows the club’s intentions
The current Arsenal squad is a talented one and the addition of Sead Kolasinac improves an already strong defensive set up. The midfield could do with some work, a holding midfielder is especially needed.
In attack if they manage to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez there is potential for a successful season.
