Forgotten Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo looks set to be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
The 24-year-old Frenchman has not played for Arsenal since the 2014-15 season, with Sanogo going out on loan to Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton Athletic. During that time, he netted four times, three of which were in one game for Charlton in February 2016.
An injury-hit career has seen him make just 20 appearances for Arsenal since his arrival from Auxerre, scoring just once.
ESPN reported that Sanogo hinted to L’Equipe that he will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the month:
“I’m free, the adventure is coming to an end. Three [matches] with four goals. It’s not a lot, but it’s been a real relief for me. It’s very hard to be injured. You feel all alone mentally.”
L’Equipe state that Sanogo has been in contact with Serie A side Genoa over a summer transfer once he’s officially a free agent.
The forward heaped praise on Arsene Wenger saying “he’s a great coach, he’s taught me a lot.” Sanogo will leave the Gunners onJune 30th when his contract expires.
