Arsene Wenger wants to hand young defender Rob Holding a long-term contract with the club after a strong finish to the season.
The Mirror reports that Wenger sees the youngster as an influential cog in his team as he sets his sights on the Premier League title next season.
Holding finished the campaign strongly, flourishing in a back three that saw the Gunners go on to lift the FA Cup for the third time in four seasons.
Having signed from Bolton in the summer, Holding had found game time hard to come by and nearly left on loan in January.
However, the switch to the back three has handed Holding his moment to shine and done so he has.
The former Bolton man was tasked with the job of marking Diego Costa in the FA Cup final and the youngster handled the fiery striker brilliantly throughout the game at Wembley.
