Arsenal’s midfield has come under scrutiny this season and Arsene Wenger, or whoever the manager is next season, will need invest heavily again in adding quality in that area.
One player the Gunners are said to be keen on is OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri but according to the Guardian, they face competition from north London rivals Tottenham for his signature, along with European giants PSG and Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been one of the leading players in Ligue 1 this season for Nice, scoring six goals and providing nine assists from central midfield in 31 appearances so far this season.
Speaking last week, Seri acknowledges that there are teams interested in signing him but he will only leave if he’s guaranteed regular football:
There are a lot of clubs that follow me. But there is nothing done. If I leave, it will be to join a club where there is a real desire to play football as in Nice. And I’m not going to be on the bench, I’m leaving only if I know I’m going to play.
Capped 13 times by Ivory Coast, Serie is expected to command a fee in the region of £20m in the summer. The Gunners are also interested in signing £25m-rated Naby Keita from RB Leipzig who is also wanted by Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
