As the Bundesliga season comes to a close as the summer begins, we can talk about what may happen in the transfer market this summer.
The summer is always an exciting time in football with the transfer window opening and big deals taking place.
As a neutral, it is always interesting to see clubs making exponential signings – and being able to see how they cope in a different environment.
We saw some massive transfers take place last summer, with Paul Pogba joining Manchester United from Juventus in a club-record deal.
We also saw some big Bundesliga moves. Mario Gotze rejoined Dortmund, Mats Hummels signed for Bayern, Ousmane Dembele joined Dortmund and so on.
But who could be leaving the Bundesliga this summer? Premier League clubs are always sniffing around the German market and one club who could make use of that is Arsenal.
So here are some Bundesliga players Arsenal could sign in the summer…
Bernd Leno - Leverkusen
With Petr Cech coming toward the end of his career, and under criticism this season, Leno could be the perfect signing for Arsenal.
The young shot-stopper has been superb for Bayer Leverkusen for a number of seasons now and could be tempted by a move to England.
Omer Toprak - Leverkusen
Arsenal’s defensive frailties have certainly been exposed this season, especially when Koscielny has been absent.
A central defender should be top of their list and Toprak would be a great option.
The 27-year-old has been a rock in the Bundesliga and would be able to challenge Mustafi for his place.
Pierre-Emile Aubameyang - Dortmund
Arsenal fans have been calling for a world-class striker to join the club ever since Robin Van Persie left, Aubameyang could be just the man.
The Dortmund forward has 27 Bundesliga goals this season, so would come at quite some cost for the Gunners.
However, if it means they can start competing for the Premier League title the cost should be no issue.
Timo Werner - RB Leipzig
The 21-year-old forward has been a hit for Leipzig this season, scoring an impressive 17 league goals.
He could be a cheaper option to Aubameyang if Arsenal are unwilling to spend big.
Julian Weigl - Dortmund
Arsenal’s midfield has come under fire this season and one Bundesliga midfielder who has received plenty of praise this season is Weigl.
The young Dortmund midfielder has burst onto the scene and impressed in a holding midfield role for Dortmund and Germany.
Emil Forsberg - RB Leipzig
Forsberg was linked with a £20m move to Arsenal this week, making him one of the most likely options for the Gunners.
The Swedish playmaker could be an excellent addition to Arsenal’s attacking array.
