According to The Mirror, Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is set to feature for Spain’s Under-21 team at the upcoming European Championships.
The tournament is taking place in Poland this year and starts just after the end of the Premier League season. Bellerin is hoping for selection for the tournament and if he does, there is a high chance he will make it far with his native Spain.
The Gunners’ promising defender is set to be part of a very strong Spanish squad, as always, and this could not be good for them as it would expose Bellerin to a lot of game time and would mean he may return back with Arsenal later than the rest of the squad.
Bellerin has struggled for Arsenal since suffering an injury earlier in the season and wants to use the tournament to prove his doubters wrong.
Wenger doesn’t want Bellerin to play as he wants him to have some rest to allow his injury to heal itself fully before the start of next season.
