Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a contract worth £300,000-a-week in an attempt to keep him at the club, according to a report from James Olley of the Evening Standard.
Sanchez has apparently been asking to be paid at a similar level to the league’s top earners, such as Paul Pogba, and it seems like Arsenal are willing to completely shatter their wage structure to keep him.
The Chilean, who has just been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year Award, is clearly the club’s best player but there has been a lot of doubt over his future with as his current contract runs out in just over 12 months time.
Mesut Ozil currently earns the highest weekly wage at Arsenal with £140,000 but the club look set to offer Sanchez more than double that amount to keep him at the club.
Sanchez, who is yet to respond to the offer, is reportedly happy with life in London but a lack of Champions League football could be an issue if the Gunners miss out on a top-four place.
