Arsenal legend and former captain Tony Adams has taken over La Liga relegation candidates Granada for the remainder of the season. The Spanish club sit seven points away from relegation with just seven matches left, so Mr. Arsenal has a big job to do.
Adams is regarded as one of the biggest figures in club history, shown by the fact that he has a statue outside Emirates Stadium. As club captain for 14 years, Adams has plenty of experience as a leader. He made 669 appearances for the Gunners and has 66 England caps to his name. Additionally, he is the Vice President of the company owned by Granada’s president, which was the gateway to his new job.

Having had spurts as a sporting director and manager with various clubs in the past, such as Portsmouth, Wycombe Wanderers, and Chongqing Dangdai Lifan, Adams has a lot of experience in football off the field. With tough games coming up for Granada against Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and Real Madrid, Granada will hope that Mr. Arsenal’s managerial ability matches his playing ability.
Given the fact that English managers haven’t thrived in Spain recently, like Gary Neville at Valencia, it seems likely that Adams will fill this role temporarily. If Granada get relegated, though, the club might use their time in the second tier to get the Englishman experience in Spanish football and keep him there full-time.
