Arsenal reportedly enter talks with Schalke left-back

Arsenal are reportedly moving closer to securing their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the Daily Mail claiming that they have opened talks with Sead Kolasinac.

The Bosnian international has been in good form this season in the Bundesliga, but his contract with Schalke expires in just a few months. This means that he’ll be available to join another team on a free transfer ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Kolasinac has been linked with a number of big clubs in the last six months in light of his contract situation, but it looks as though Arsenal have moved ahead in the chase by entering talks with the left-back over a potential move.

Nacho Monreal has failed to inspire at left-back this season, while Kieran Gibbs is clearly deemed only as a rotational option, so a move for the 23-year-old defender would make sense.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both shown previous interest in Kolasinac.
