An intermediary of Arsenal Football Club is believed to have made contact with Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde.
Spanish outlet, Marca, as reported by the Independent, claim that that the 53-year-old is one of the contenders to take over from Arsene Wenger, whose position is under threat.
Valverde’s contract at Bilbao is up at the end of the season and he has reportedly always dreamt of managing in England, but he is also on the shortlist to replace Luis Enrique at Barcelona.

Wenger is under pressure from the Arsenal supporters to leave the club at the end of the season after a difficult campaign at the Emirates Stadium.
These reports emerge following an embarrassing 3-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The Gunners now face a real struggle to finish inside the top four of the Premier League and qualify for next season’s Champions League, something that has always been a priority for Wenger.
