Arsenal will not be able to move any higher than fifth place this weekend but they can close the gap on the top four with a victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
A win would put the Gunners just two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand, but defeat or a draw will open the door for sixth-placed Manchester United to leapfrog them.
Arsene Wenger will be very aware that West Brom can be a dangerous side, although they have hit a bit of a rough patch in recent weeks.
Mohamed Elneny should be available for selection on Saturday but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs are both unlikely to feature due to injury.
With that being said, here’s the XI that I think Wenger will pick for what is looking like a must-win game for the Gunners:
Goalkeeper: Petr Cech
Cech will return in goal after Ospina had the cup duties.
Right Back: Hector Bellerin
Speed will be so important for Arsenal in this game and Bellerin is likely to see a lot of the ball.
Centre Back: Shkodran Mustafi
West Brom will pose a threat, especially from set pieces so Shkodran Mustafi will need to be up for a physical afternoon’s work.
Centre Back: Laurent Koscielny
Laurent Koscielny will need to make sure his back four is extremely well organised.
Left Back: Nacho Monreal
With Gibbs out, there’s no doubt that Nacho Monreal starts.
Midfield: Francis Coquelin
With Oxlade-Chamberlain unavailable and Elneny just getting back to fitness, Coquelin looks likely to play.
Midfield: Granit Xhaka
Granit Xhaka has looked good in recent weeks. He’ll need to be up for the battle against a tough tackling Albion midfield.
Midfield: Mesut Ozil
Mesut Ozil is back fit and Arsenal need him back to his best.
Right Wing: Theo Walcott
England may have snubbed him but Arsenal won’t. Theo has been in good goalscoring form all year.
Left Wing: Alex Iwobi
Iwobi needs to step up after a few poor games. I think he’ll get the chance to do that this weekend.
Striker: Alexis Sanchez
Rather than play a target man like Giroud, something West Brom probably would be happy dealing with. Starting Sanchez up front would allow a fluidity in attack for the Gunners.
