Former Arsenal man Paul Merson has insisted that Arsenal should “get on the phone” to under-fire Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.
Speculation has been rife in recent times surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, with many calling for him to be relieved of his duties come the end of the season.
However, Enrique is another manager whose future at a top club is under scrutiny, with Barcelona largely under-performing this season despite their miraculous Champions League comeback in midweek.
They should get on the phone to Luis Enrique. He’s managed a world-class team full of world-class players. Straight away that brings respect. Something has to change because these players are doing my head in. It’s like they don’t care.
Merson, as quoted by the Evening Standard, suggested that Arsenal need someone who is more ruthless than Wenger in charge of the club if they are to reach the next level, and also stated that someone like Everton manager Ronald Koeman would be a good appointment come the end of the season.

Arsenal need someone much more ruthless. Someone like Koeman. He’s got a mean streak and he doesn’t let his players get away with anything. I think he’d be a good fit and would take the job if they offered it to him.
The Gunners will hope to put the speculation regarding Wenger aside this evening as they look to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a win over non-league side Lincoln City in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal need someone to come in who is going to sort these players out because they are weak. They have no pride. They showed that against Bayern Munich.
