# Player Ratings: Arsenal 1-5 Bayern Munich

Another dismal drubbing the Champions League for Arsenal but the scoreline’s in both legs don’t tell the full story of how this tie unfolded.

The Gunners held their own in the first leg at the Allianz Arena, scoring what could’ve been a vital away goal and going in at the half on level terms.

The loss of Laurent Koscielny due to injury saw Arsenal lose their vocal leader in defence who were woefully inept and out of shape allowing Bayern to blitz them and all but put the tie to bed with a 5-1 thumping.

Again, in the second leg, Arsenal were bright in the first half with Theo Walcott putting them into an early lead. Wenger’s men looked well on top when Walcott was brought down by Xabi Alonso but no penalty was given by referee Anastasios Sidiropoulos.

Sidiropoulos was again at the centre of a controversial decision when he awarded Bayern a penalty early in the second half, booking Koscielny in the process only to change his mind and show him a straight red moments later.

The loss of the Frenchman was compounded by Robert Lewandoski netting from the spot, ending Arsenal’s hopes. The team again crumbled and Bayern piled on the misery with four more goals to hand them a 10-2 aggregate win.

Here are our player ratings from the game and it’s not pretty.
