Arsene Wenger agrees terms to two-year extension

Arsene Wenger agrees terms to two-year extension

It remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger will still be the manager of Arsenal next season but the offer is on the table if he wants it.

According to the Mirror, Wenger and the club have agreed terms to a two-year extension to his current contract, but he’s yet to make a definitive decision on whether he wants to stay or go.

Parts of the fanbase have voiced their eagerness to see Wenger leave the club at the end of the season so Arsenal can have a fresh start under a new manager and hopefully some more success, especially on the European front as the Gunners look set for a seventh-straight last 16 exit from the Champions League following their 5-1 drubbing at the Allianz Arena last month.

Wenger, who wants to continue to give his all for the football club he’s spent over 21 years at, is aware of the fan’s frustrations and is supposedly 50/50 over signing his extension.

The board are drawing up a shortlist of alternatives if the 67-year-old decides to call time on his Arsenal tenure.

Massimiliano Allegri has distanced himself recently from the job following strong speculation he verbally agreed to take the role at the end of the season, while the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Ronald Koeman and Jorge Sampaoli have all been mentioned.
