# Theo Walcott dropped for Bayern Munich clash

Arsenal have dropped winger Theo Walcott from the starting eleven to the bench for tonight’s Champions League last 16 first leg tie with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, BBC’s David Ornstein has claimed.

The attacker has been in decent form for the Gunners of late, so the decision to drop him does come as a shock.

Walcott recently netted a hat-trick in an impressive 5-0 FA Cup win over Southampton and would’ve been an interesting option from wide but Arsene Wenger has decided to drop him for tonight’s game.

This could indicate that Alexis Sanchez could be moving back into a wide position to allow Olivier Giroud to lead the line in Munich tonight, or perhaps a rare start for either Lucas Perez or Danny Welbeck.

Mesut Ozil’s place in the side has been questioned of late but it would appear that Wenger is sticking with his record £42.5m signing to be a difference maker tonight.
