Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech will remain at the club next season according to his agent Viktor Kolar.
Speculation has mounted in recent weeks about the Czech Republic international’s future at the club following a series of errors, including gifting Chelsea their third goal in a 3-1 victory over the Gunners earlier this month.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, Kolar was quick to respond to suggestions that the goalkeeper’s time at the Emirates was coming to an end, commenting to journalists in the Czech Republic:
Petr’s position at the club is very secure and a summer transfer can be ruled out. Petr will be part of Arsenal until at least the end of his current contract and I am convinced that he will continue to have a leadership role in the team.
Cech’s contract with the London outfit runs until 2019 and as alluded to Kolar, he is expected to see out that contract.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was quick to rule out suggestions that the club was interested in signing Joe Hart last week, whilst Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford has also been identified as a potential replacement.
Arsenal currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, 10 points off league leaders Chelsea.
